Caring for Metal FittingsUpdated a year ago
Regular maintenance plays a significant role in preserving the quality and appearance of your fittings. To enhance their lifespan and safeguard their finish, it's advisable to routinely remove dust. Employ a soft dry cloth or duster to achieve this.
For fittings needing extra care, you can slightly moisten the cloth with fresh water for a more thorough wipe-down. Following this, use a separate cloth to ensure the fitting is meticulously dried, effectively eliminating water spots and elevating its shine.
Please note that certain metals might necessitate specialized cleaning methods to restore their original allure. A list of these metals, along with tailored cleaning guidance, is provided below:
- Brass & Bronze:
With the passage of time, brass may naturally develop an aged patina due to atmospheric factors, even when placed in indoor settings.
To slow down the aging process, we suggest periodically rinsing the brass with fresh water and gently wiping it with a cloth. A routine every few months can help maintain its appearance. If the brass does begin to darken in colour due to aging, you can employ a brasso cleaner to restore its original lustre. - Aluminium:
Cleaning aluminium is best achieved using a damp cloth exclusively, avoiding the use of solvents or detergents. It's crucial to prevent exposure to fertilizers, chlorinated water, and other chemicals to prevent any potential corrosion of the fitting.
- Stainless Steel:
For stainless steel, we recommend a gentle wash with a mixture of warm water and detergent every couple of months to eliminate surface deposits. Afterward, a rinse with clean water followed by drying with a soft, clean cloth is recommended. If further cleaning is required, you can utilize a stainless-steel cleaner wipe or cream alongside a non-abrasive cloth.
- Chrome:
Regular dusting is essential to maintain the pristine appearance of chrome. Dust accumulation can create the appearance of rust over time if not managed.
To clean chrome fittings, we advise using warm soapy water with a non-abrasive sponge or cloth. For more stubborn dust, a soft-bristled brush can be effective. Following cleaning, ensure thorough drying to prevent watermarks and maintain the chrome's brilliance.
