Caring for Metal FittingsUpdated 8 days ago

Fitting Maintenance Guidelines

Regular maintenance is essential for preserving the quality, appearance, and longevity of your fittings. To protect the finish and extend their lifespan, we recommend routine dust removal using a soft, dry cloth or duster.

For fittings requiring additional care, a lightly moistened cloth with clean water may be used for a more thorough cleaning. Ensure the surface is completely dried afterward with a separate, soft cloth to eliminate water spots and enhance the overall shine.

Please note that specific metals may require tailored cleaning methods to maintain their original appearance. Below are material-specific care recommendations:

Brass & Bronze
Over time, brass may naturally develop a patina due to exposure to air, even in indoor environments. To help slow this aging process, gently rinse the brass with clean water and wipe it with a soft cloth every few months. Should the brass darken with age, a brass polish such as Brasso may be used to help restore its original luster.

Aluminium
Aluminium should be cleaned with a damp cloth only. Avoid using solvents or detergents, as these can damage the surface. Exposure to substances like fertilizers, chlorinated water, or other chemicals should be avoided to prevent corrosion.

Stainless Steel
Clean stainless steel fittings every few months using a mixture of warm water and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry immediately with a soft, clean cloth. For deeper cleaning, a stainless-steel cleaner (wipe or cream) can be applied with a non-abrasive cloth.

Chrome
Frequent dusting is important to maintain the finish of chrome fittings. Accumulated dust can lead to the appearance of rust if not addressed. For cleaning, use warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive cloth or sponge. For more persistent dust or dirt, a soft-bristled brush may be used. Always dry the surface thoroughly to prevent watermarks and preserve the chrome’s shine.
